Stavros “Steve” George Trastelis

Corporate Vice-President, Microfibres, Inc.

Stavros “Steve” George Trastelis; male, age 53, a U.S. citizen living in the United States since 1973, was born in Athens, Greece. He has a bachelor of science in textile engineering, and a master of science in industrial and systems engineering, both from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia. Currently, he is serving as Corporate Vice-President for Microfibres, Inc. His areas of responsibilities include: human resources, training and development, total quality management, and operations. He serves as the Chief-of-Staff, and Chamber of Commerce representative for the Winston-Salem facility. He is also a member of the company’s executive committee. He joined Microfibres in 1993. Prior to that, he served in various textile management positions with Burlington Industries. Before that, he worked for a short period with a textile company in Greece, and a data processing company in Atlanta, Georgia.

In 1993, Governor James Hunt, of North Carolina, presented Steve with the “Order of the Long Leaf Pine”, the highest award presented by the state, to recognize his contribution to various non-profit organizations. Steve has served as chairman of the advisory board of the School of Management of Guilford Technical Community College. He is a certified ISO 9000 lead assessor, a former examiner of North Carolina’s Baldrige Quality Award, a member of the Society for Human Resource Management, and a certified Zenger–Miller instructor (interpersonal skills trainer). Steve has also served as president of the Evrytanian Association, a Greek-American philanthropic organization with 17 chapters throughout the United States. In 1986, he received the “Distinguished Alumnus Award” from the Georgia Institute of Technology for outstanding accomplishment in his profession. The same year, his publication “Evaluating Your Company’s Quality Management System” was published by Industrial Engineering and Management Press.

Steve and his wife, Penny, a middle-school teacher, reside in Greensboro, North Carolina with their two daughters.

In March 2008 Steve was voted onto the NTA Board of Government and represents Microfibres, Inc. on NTA's Upholstery Fabrics Committee.
