John F. "Jock" NashWashington Counsel, Milliken & Company
Jock Nash serves as the Washington Counsel for Milliken & Company. Milliken & Co., founded in 1865, is a multi-billion dollar, privately-held textile company which makes over 45,000 products and provides jobs for over 10,000 American workers. Milliken’s operations span the globe with over 45 manufacturing facilities located in ten countries. Everything manufactured offshore is sold in those regional markets. As a textile industry advisor, he has participated in bilateral trade negotiations with over 40 countries. He was a textile industry representative in the critical GATT-WTO and North American Free Trade Agreement negotiations. He has helped to create a number of Washington coalitions which lobby Congress and the Administration, in an attempt to influence trade policy as it affects the workers, our standard of living, and the manufacturing base of this country. He serves as a member of the Auto Supplier Council, Vice Chairman of the Board of the United States Business and Industrial Council, and is a member of the District of Columbia Bar Association. Prior to coming to Milliken & Company in February 1985, Nash was Administrative Assistant to Senator Paul Laxalt (R-NV). He also served as Chief Counsel/Staff Director for the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Criminal Law, and Chief Counsel/Staff Director for the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Regulatory Reform. He is a former infantry officer in the United States Marine Corps and was a combat veteran in the Vietnam War. Nash received his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley and his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center. He lives in Bethesda, Maryland. Nash has served in NTA leadership positions since 2001. He stepped down from the NTA Board of Directors in October 15, 2009 due to his retirement from the textile industry. On that occassion the NTA Offices and Directors voted this their thanks for his Outstanding Dedication to the Preservation of the American Textile Industry. |
