Karl Spilhaus, President

Karl is president of the National Textile Association, the largest association of textile companies in the United States. NTA members are active in every sector of the textile industry, as well as related supplier industries. He is also president of the Cashmere and Camel Hair Manufacturers Institute. The Institute, the leading authority on domestic and international issues concerning luxury fibers, was founded in 1985. He is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, the New England School of Law and a member of the Massachusetts Bar. He has over twenty-eight years of experience in the textile industry. In his capacity of president of NTA he serves as an advisor on bi-lateral and multi-lateral textile agreements and negotiations. He also serves on numerous committees and boards for textile related organizations.


Hardy Poole,
Vice President, Regulatory and Technical Affairs

Hardy coordinates NTA's activities regarding state and federal regulatory issues, defense procurement and consumer affairs. Hardy joined NTA in January 2004. He has over three decades of textile industry experience and has managed numerous technical programs for the U.S. textile industry. In the past, he has worked closely on flammability issues with upholstery fabric producers, suppliers and customers, with regulators from the Consumer Products Safety Commission and California's Bureau of Home Furnishings, and with numerous other agencies and organizations.

David Trumbull,
Vice President, International Trade

David Trumbull has been employed at NTA since October 1994 and is extremely knowledgeable and competent in all areas of U.S. textile trade laws and regulation and international textile agreements. He also is very knowledgeable about the domestic U.S. textile industry and its issues in international trade matters. He currently serves on the U.S. government Industry Trade Advisory Committee on textiles, clothing, and footwear.


Jane Lomas, Office Administrator.

Jane Lomas is responsible for the day-to-day operation of NTA’s Boston office. Jane has been with the organization since June 2001.

Barry Ripley, Finance Director

Barry is responsible for financial planning, budgeting and accounting for NTA and related entities, the American Flock Association and the Cashmere and Camel Hair Manufacturers Institute. Prior to his work with NTA and AFA, Mr. Ripley was the President and CEO of Troy Mills, Inc. a leading supplier of nonwoven products to the automotive interior and engine filtration markets as well as contract, apparel, and industrial filtration markets.

Steve Rosenthal, Managing Director, American Flock Association

Steve provides professional staff support for NTA’s American Flock Assocation. He joined the organization in August 2007. Steve has been on the Board of Directors of the American Flock Association since its founding in 1985. He has served as head of the Promotions and Technology Committees of the AFA and has presented papers at the European, Chinese, and American flock association meetings.
