TenCate Geosynthetics North America said late Thursday that it plans to sell the assets and operations of TenCate's Andrews facility to nearby Performance Fabrics and Fibers.
Performance Fabrics and Fibers plans to operate the facility, service the existing customers, overhaul some equipment and upgrade the facility, according to a news release from TenCate. The improvements should increase productivity and jobs next year, the company said.
Meanwhile, about 30 TenCate workers have been laid off and given severance packages. Many gathered Thursday in a parking lot outside the Andrews facility, clutching their severance paychecks and discussing their future plans.
Performance Fabrics and Fibers has offered the remaining workers employment, pending finalization of the sale, TenCate said in the release.
