According to Al Safer, "In addition [to the list below] we eliminated over 70-80 administrative and sales related jobs from the holding company, in N.J., N.Y.C. and Calif., downsized to 1/3 the knitting mill in Newark(Meadows Knitting) and Safer Textiles dye house in Newark laying off another 150 employees. As well as downsizing Hampton prints in Tenn. by 50 employees. Without including Markbilt and Concord [which were acquired in 2005] all textile companies that we owned and controlled employed around 1,000 people in 2002; today [February 2008] we employ in total around 280 people."
