On May 29, 2007, WestPoint Home announced the closing of domestic bedding production facilities in Alabama, Georgia, and Florida, putting about 1,000 people out of work. In addition to the plant closings, about 40 positions were eliminated the corporate office and outside sales offices. After the closures the company will emply more than 4,000 people domestically. WestPoint has been an NTA Member since June 30, 2004, and is active in the NTA Textile Bedding Committee. The company was also from January 8, 1999 to December 6, 2000, a member of NTA's American Flock Association in connection with the company's flocked blanket operation.
