Victor names former Quaker execs to senior posts
Spires, Whitehead join newly created fabrics supplier

FALL RIVER, Mass. — Victor Innovative Textiles, the company created when Canadian fabric supplier Victor Innovatex purchased the assets of Quaker Fabric, has named former Quaker executives Bea Spires and Duncan Whitehead to senior management posts.

Spires, who was vice president of design at Quaker, will head VIT’s design group. She has developed and maintained a library of over 35,000 textile designs currently used worldwide.

Whitehead, who led Quaker’s research and development, will head Victor’s R&D, domestic operations and global sourcing.

President and CEO Alain Duval said, “With the collective expertise of these two industry leaders completing our management team, Victor Innovative Textiles is well positioned to maintain a strong development and manufacturing presence in the United States.”

VIT continues to hire engineering and manufacturing associates. Fabric production at the Fall River facility is expected to begin by mid-October.

Victor also said it had resumed an agreement with China-based Zhongwang for the design and supply of the Quaker Global Line.

“The partnership with Zhongwang will continue to provide Victor with a very strong presence in China,” Duval said. “We are particularly impressed with Zhongwang’s state-of-the-art finishing plant that uses Quaker technology. In combination with manufacturing in Fall River, the increased capacity from our China partners will enable us to extend the range of fabrics Victor supplies to all segments of the market.”

Yang Lin Shan, president of Zhongwang, said, “We are excited about our new partnership with Victor. Capitalizing on Victor’s strong reputation in the high end of contract furniture, we look forward to providing products for all segments of the furniture upholstery market.”

Victor Innovatex is a family-owned fabric specialist supplying environmentally sustainable fabrics to the contract industry.
