The Northern Textile Association Personnel Policy Committee met on August 13, 1997 for its annual outing at the American Textile History Museum in Lowell, MA.  In attendance were: Mike Schwotzer and Tara Schultz, BF Goodrich Company; Alexis K. Paskevich and Irene Niemi, Dorr Woolen Company; Mickie Richardson,  Homestead Industries, Cindy A. Letourneau, Key Polymer Corporation; Dan Brown, L.W. Packard & Co., Inc.; Leslie Thompsen, Raffi and Swanson; Patricia Dupuis, Spectro Coating Corporation; Sam Alex, Synthon Industries, Inc.; Nan Kern, Northern Textile Association.

The annual outing began at 10:00 a.m. with a tour of the museum.  During lunch, the results of the Smoking Policy Survey were distributed and discussed.  Thirty six companies responded to the survey; you may request a copy by calling David or Nan at 617-542-8220.

Following lunch, the group took a National Parks Department Canal Tour.  The tour focused on the canal system built to harness the energy of the Merrimac River in running the many textile mills located in Lowell.

The next meeting of NTA’s Personnel Policy Committee will be Wednesday, November 12 at the Best Western Lord Wakefield Hotel in Wakefield, MA.  David Trumbull will arrange for a speaker from the U.S. Dept. of Labor to speak on the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA.)
