Pendleton is a producer of woven fabrics for the sportswear, home and contract markets.

In 1863 Thomas Kay, an English weaver, began making woolen products in Oregon. The 1876 marriage of Kay's daughter Fannie to C. P. Bishop combined experience in both woolen manufacturing and specialty retailing. In 1895 Pendleton Woolen Mills began weaving Indian trade blankets. In 1909 the company expanded with new mill in Pendleton, Oregon, and in 1912 the company acquired a weaving mill in Washougal, Washington, both are still in operation today. Pendleton is a privately held, fifth generation family owned business.

Pendleton has been a member of NTA since at least November 11, 1975. In 1982 Pendleton acquired Dorr Woolen Company which had been a member of NTA since September 16, 1955. Pendleton is active in, and through the Dorr Woolen Company connection a founding member of, NTA's Wool Manufacturers Council.
