Northern Textile Association Founded

In April 1953, the National Association of Cotton Manufacturers filed incorporation papers and adopted by-laws for the Northern Textile Association, the new organization to run in tandem with the NACM. Three new members, Goodall-Sanford, Verney Corporation and Cheney Bros., joined the NTA as a result of the move. The action culminated the recommendations by NACM's Committee on Changes in the Constitution and Bylaws at the annual meeting in September 1952. Members of the NTA who were not members of the NACM assumed full voting rights of that group but did not actually become members of NACM. However, NACM members became members of the NTA upon payment of regular dues.

Subsequently, in 1956, the National Association of Cotton Manufacturers, changed its name to Northern Textile Association.
