NTA Awards and Honors

The NTA Medal

  • The NTA Gold Medal. The first Gold Medal ever given by the Association was presented to Senator Edward M. Kennedy of Massachusetts in 1965 in appreciation ans with admiration, affection and respect for the memory of his brother, the late President John F. Kennedy. It is our highest honor and has been given out three time in the history of NTA.

  • The NTA Silver Medal. During the year 1898 the Board decided to establish the medal to the recognition of the merit in papers read before the Association, and the acknowledgement of the worth of inventions and methods contributing to the advancement of the cotton textile art. The first medal was awarded in 1902. It has been awarded 48 times.

  • The NTA Bronze Medal The Association has, since 1901, awarded an honor medal for scholarship in several textile schools and colledge that meet the required standards. These awards were made possible through the interest of Moses Pierce, a successful cotton manufacturer, who, on the occassion of his 90th birthday in 1900, gave to the Association a fund to be used in furthering textile education.

    Other Honors and Awards

    In addition to the NTA Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medals, there have been several other recognitions awarded to various persons connected the textile industry.
