SPEAKER BIOS

Ulrich Büttel

President at Maag Flockmaschinen GmbH, Gomaringen/Germany. He studied mechanical engineering at the Reutlingen Fachhochschule (technical college). Together with a partner he then founded an engineering company specializing in the development and production of specialized automated machines. At the end of 1998 Mr. Büttel purchased a stake in Maag Flockmaschinen. He has been successfully leading the company as its managing director since the beginning of 2000. He is a member of the German Electrical Engineering Commission sub-committee 239.1. Mr. Büttel lives in Riederich with his wife and two children.

Edvard Crnic

Associate Partner & Executive Vice President of Maag Flockmaschinen, joined the company in July 2000. With about 20 years international marketing experience his responsibility is for the marketing, commercial & distribution strategy of Maag Flockmaschinen. He is active within the European Flock Association, where he used to successfully lead the marketing Group for years and since 2003 is a member of the Executive Committee. Mr. Crnic lives in the Tübingen area with his wife Sabine and the two sons Nick & Jonas.

Peter M. Hadley

Mr. Hadley is Vice President for Claremont Flock Corporation, Leominster, MA, a flock manufacturer.  Mr. Hadley's career spans over thirty-eight years in the textile industry and twenty in the flock industry. Prior to his employment at Claremont, Mr. Hadley worked at Malden Mills Industries as Director of Quality Control. Mr. Hadley is a Director of the American Flock Association.

Yong K. Kim, Ph.D.

Dr. Kim is a Chancellor Professor of Textile Sciences at the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth. His primary expertise is in fiber and polymeric materials, processing technology of fibrous structures (especially industrial textiles and micro/nano-composite materials) and the mechanics of textile structures. He has authored over 50 papers and technical reports in these related fields.  Professor Kim has both BS and MS degrees in Textile Engineering from Seoul National University. In addition, he holds a Ph.D. in Fiber and Polymer Science from North Carolina State University.

Steve Rosenthal

Mr. Rosenthal is Global Product Development Manager – Flock for Noveon, Inc, a global supplier of polymers and adhesives to the flock industry..  He has been a member of the Executive Committee of the American Flock Association since its inception, and is chair of both the Promotions Committee and the Technology Committee.  He edited the original Design With Flock in Mind brochure, and has made various presentations about flocking both in the USA and abroad. 

Dirk Friedrich Leiber

Mr. Leiber is the Business Development Manager for the Americas at FoamPartner GmBH of Greenville, SC. At FoamPartner he is responsible for flocked and foamed products and works closely with Esch Textile Flocking Systems. Prior to this position he was President and CEO of Esch Anlagen und Maschinenbau GmBH in Germany. Mr Leiber has played a key role in the development of the industry trade associations in Europe and the United States and has been instrumental in the advancement of the technology of fiber-coating for roll-to-roll and object flock markets around the world.

John A. Maxson III

Mr. Maxson, currently Technical Director at Cellusuede Products, Rockford, IL, has been involved in the flock industry for over 22 years. In addition to his tenure at Cellusuede, he served as Technical Director for Microfibres in Pawtucket, RI, a manufacturer of flocked upholstery fabrics.

Thomas Witham

Mr. Witham is currently Marketing Manager at Spectro Coating. He has been involved in the roll to roll flockin industry since 1977. He has developed and marketed products for decorative packaging, Christmas ribbons, apparel, upholstery and home furnishing, as well as flocked products for industrial uses. Mr. Witham has an MBA from Babson College.
