Textile Industry Coalition on Government Procurement Military Textiles Conference

Congressman Duncan Hunter (ret.), past chairman of the U.S. House of Representatives Armed Services Committee, was presented the “Award of Outstanding Military Merit” by the Textile Industry Coalition on Government Procurement during the Military Textiles Conference in San Diego on September 24, 2009.

The Textile Industry Coalition’s annual Military Textiles Conference enjoyed “sold out” attendance and created a forum for presentations by key military professionals who are responsible for developing and procuring military items for our armed forces. Among the presentations was Col. Kurt D. Wilson's update on the Defense Logistics Agency DSCP Clothing & Textiles Open discussions followed all presentations.

Gunnery Sergeant (ret.) Nick Popaditch, a Marine tank Commander who was seriously wounded in Iraq, also spoke at the luncheon providing a description of how he was hit by a rocket propelled grenade (RPG) and his long struggle to overcome many obstacles. Popaditch, a Silver Star recipient, captivated the attendees with his struggle which began when he lost all sight and hearing due to the RPG, to the point where he now has limited vision in one eye.
