NTA applauds Representative Hayes' Efforts to Expand Berry Amendment

March 21, 2006, BOSTON -- On March 14, Representative Robin Hayes (R-NC) filed bill H.R.4946 to prohibit the Department of Homeland Security from procuring certain items directly related to the national security unless the items are grown, reprocessed, reused, or produced in the United States. This bill would apply to the Department of Homeland Security, the same "buy American" requirement as is currently in effect under the Berry Amendment with regard to acquisitions by the Department of Defense.
